Description

Foot MRI without contrast is a modern, precise and completely non-invasive diagnostic method that allows detailed imaging of soft tissues, bones and joints. Performed without the use of contrast agents, it enables fast and accurate identification of pain sources, injuries, inflammation, and degenerative changes in the foot and ankle area.

At Rehasport – one of Poland’s leading orthopedic clinics – foot MRI is performed using advanced equipment by an experienced team of specialists. We ensure a comfortable environment and individualized approach for every patient, including those with claustrophobia or difficulty staying still.

Indications:

  • Persistent or acute foot pain,

  • Sports injuries: sprains, tendon tears, stress fractures,

  • Suspected cartilage, joint, or ligament damage,

  • Bone marrow inflammation, abscesses, infections,

  • Deformities and overload syndromes (e.g. plantar fasciitis),

  • Nerve disorders (e.g. Morton’s neuroma),

  • Unexplained swelling,

  • Postoperative follow-up.

Contraindications:

Absolute:

  • Pacemakers, defibrillators, neurostimulators,

  • Vascular clips, metallic foreign bodies near the eyes,

  • Insulin pumps and other active devices.

Relative:

  • Metal implants (screws, endoprostheses, plates),

  • Pregnancy (especially the first trimester),

  • Severe claustrophobia,

  • Inability to remain still.

Preparation:

No fasting required unless advised otherwise. Wear loose, metal-free clothing. Remove jewelry, watches, glasses, and other metal items. Inform the staff of any implants, electronic devices, or claustrophobia.

Procedure:

The exam takes about 20–40 minutes and is painless. The patient lies still while the foot is placed in a special coil. The device emits rhythmic sounds – earplugs or headphones are provided. The medical staff remains in constant contact throughout.

Referral:

A referral is required from a specialist, such as an orthopedist, rheumatologist or rehabilitation physician.
