Ophthalmologist
An ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats eye disorders. During the visit, the ophthalmologist conducts a medical interview, prescribes medication or makes referrals for further eye examinations, but does not carry out a fundus examination.
In terms of a consultation, the ophthalmologist:

- makes the diagnoses,
- provides medical recommendations,
- writes prescriptions,
- makes referrals for laboratory and imaging tests/examinations,
- issues sick leaves.
During the visit, the ophthalmologist can:
- remove a foreign object from the eye (in simple cases),
- remove the stitches and apply a dressing,
- measure intraocular pressure,
- inject the medication into the conjunctival sac.
The ophthalmologist can carry out:
- an examination of the anterior and posterior segment of the eye using a slit-lamp,
- a tonometry (intraocular pressure test),
- a visual acuity test/examination,
- a test/examination using an autorefractor,
- a spatial vision test/examination,
- a colour vision test/examination,
- other tests/examinations as a consequence of the diagnostic process, at the ophthalmologist's discretion.
