Phospholipid IgM antibodies

Clinical significance

Antiphospholipid antibodies - antibodies directed against phospholipids on the surface of the cellsórek of the mediastinum of blood vessels, characteristic of antiphospholipid syndrome, an immune-mediated disease. As a consequence of damage to phospholipidsów and other componentsów of the vascular endothelial cells, the róbalance between the processes of blood clotting and clot fibrinolysis is disrupted. The main symptom of the disease is venous thrombosis (mainly of the veins of the lower extremities), miscarriages (ischemia of the placenta), retinal bruising of the skinóry, arthritisów, migraines, myocardial infarctions, and arterial thrombosis primarily affecting the vessels of the móud which can cause a risk of transient móud ischemia or móud ischemic stroke. Antiphospholipid antibodies are found in the IgG and IgM classes, and are one of the diagnostic criteria for the diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome.
