Magnetic resonance imaging of the knee joint

The MRI of the knee joint allows for precise diagnostics of the knee joint structures.

Indications for performing an MRI of the knee joint include:

• pain
• swelling
• tumors
• degenerative diseases
• twisting and overload injuries.

Magnetic resonance imaging of the knee joint allows for the assessment of the condition of the ligament apparatus, tendons, menisci in the knee joints, and the presence of fluid in the joint cavity.

The examination is safe as it does not use harmful ionizing radiation.

* The examination does not include the introduction of contrast.

Absolute contraindications:

• pacemaker (especially older models)
• insulin pump
• implanted hearing aid
• neurostimulators
• intracranial metal clips

Relative contraindication:

• pregnancy
