The ankle joint connects the lower leg to the foot, providing mobility in this part of the lower limb. It is a joint that is subjected to high strain, carrying a high risk of injury - dislocations, fractures and sprains.
Indications for examination:
- pain and swelling of the joint,
- post-traumatic conditions,
- Achilles tendon diseases,
- degenerative disease,
- cancerous tumors and suspected bone metastases.
Contraindications to the study:
- implanted electrical devices (defibrillator, pacemaker, neurostimulator, etc.),
- metal bodies in soft tissues or metal fragments in the vicinity of vessels, parenchymal organs, eyeballs.
The test is not recommended for women in the first trimester of pregnancy. Claustrophobia may also be a contraindication to the test.
