Consultation by a speech-language therapist for the hearing impaired – children and youth
A speech-language therapist for hearing-impaired children is a specialist who deals with speech development problems arising out of damaged hearing.
A speech-language therapist for the hearing impaired works with children:
- with retarded speech development due to hearing loss,
- who begin their adventure with sounds, i.e. children who have just had their hearing aid placed or implantation performed,
- who use a hearing aid/cochlear implants in order to assess the correctness of speech according to the child’s age.
During an appointment, the specialist assesses such aspects as:
- the child’s hearing functions (detection, differentiation and identification of sounds, understanding of speech),
- the child’s articulation organs,
- the vocabulary range according to age.
Duration of the consultation appointment: 30 minutes.
Patients must arrive not later than 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment.
Services can be performed only in the medical centre indicated during the purchasing procedure.
