Genetic Test for Couples Trying to Conceive - CGT Plus Test
The CGT Plus test is a mid-level genetic test option for couples trying to conceive. It includes the examination and comparative analysis of 306 genes. These genes are analyzed for the presence of hidden genetic mutations.
Please note that before purchasing the test, you must have a preliminary CGT genetic consultation.
What are hidden genetic mutations?
Genetic mutations are changes in the structure or makeup of a gene, leading to a disease or a set of symptoms.
A specific type of these mutations are recessive genetic mutations, which remain inactive when they occur only in a single gene of a given chromosome (i.e., inherited from only one parent). This is known as a hidden genetic mutation because it does not cause any symptoms or affect the carrier's life or health.
The risk increases when both parents unknowingly carry the same genetic mutation. In such a case, the likelihood of the mutation manifesting and a genetic disorder appearing in the child rises.
What does the CGT test involve?
The test involves a comparative analysis of both patients' results. The test requires only blood samples from the patient, which are taken at the lab of one of the InviMed clinics.
The test results are discussed with a geneticist during an additional genetic consultation, which is included in the price of the genetic test.
Who is the CGT test for?
The hidden genetic mutation test is designed for all couples trying to conceive, regardless of what stage they are at:
- couples just beginning their efforts,
- couples undergoing infertility treatment,
- couples indicated for in vitro treatment with donor eggs (in the case of the InviMed program with genetic matching).
