Ultrasound examination aimed at assessing the correct
development of hip joints and excluding dysplastic changes.
Hip dysplasia (underdevelopment of the bones and other elements
that make up the hip joint) is the most common congenital
malformation of the musculoskeletal system. Early detection allows
for complete healing of the defect. If dysplasia is not treated or
detected too late, dislocations of the joint prevent the child from
walking properly. As a consequence, the child limps and his gait
resembles that of a duck.
Ultrasound examination is an imaging method that uses ultrasound
waves. The technique uses an ultrasound beam reflection from organ
structures.
