Men’s Preventive Healthcare

Men need regular health check-ups just like women, even if they don't experience any visible symptoms. If you are postponing important tests or have an "it's going to be okay" attitude with regards to any symptoms you experience, you should take better care of your health and not ignore the warning signals your body sends you.

Preventive examinations allow you to diagnose the disease before it becomes more advanced and more difficult to treat. Early detection of health problems prevents their serious consequences and increases the chance of a complete cure.

The proposed screening tests can help detect, for example, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, thyroid, kidney or liver diseases, as well as prostate cancer. Thanks to regular preventive examinations, you can also be sure that you are taking proper care of your health. This will help you stay healthy and detect potential problems early on. In the event of abnormal results, you will have a chance to quickly start appropriate treatment.

Who can benefit from the men’s preventive healthcare?

The package is addressed to all adult men who want to take care of their health. Preventive examinations are recommended to be performed on a regular basis, regardless of whether there are any symptoms at the moment. This is especially important for people who are at risk of certain diseases. The most common factors that increase the risk of developing chronic diseases include:

  • a sedentary lifestyle with significantly limited physical activity,
  • unhealthy diet containing large amounts of saturated fats and simple sugars,
  • obesity and overweight,
  • alcohol abuse,
  • smoking cigarettes or other tobacco products.

Men’s Preventive Healthcare includes as many as 17 tests, such as:

  • CBC (complete blood count) - a test performed to assess peripheral blood components that are important for the proper functioning of the body, provides valuable information about general health.

  • GLUCOSE - is essential for the functioning of all body cells; Glucose testing should be performed by people who are obese or have a family history of diabetes due to the increased risk of developing diabetes. Other indications for this examination are symptoms such as: increased thirst, weakness, recurrent infections, malaise, frequent urination of large amounts of urine or a strong feeling of hunger, accelerated heart rate, tremors, drowsiness, and double vision. Determination of glucose concentration is also performed prophylactically.

  • LIPID PROFILE, or 4 tests:

    – Total cholesterol, LDL and HDL cholesterol – Testing cholesterol levels, LDL (bad cholesterol) and HDL (good cholesterol), is performed to assess the body's lipid metabolism. It is recommended primarily to people at risk of cardiovascular diseases, e.g. in the case of overweight and obesity, diabetes, hypertension, as well as prophylactically. Excess cholesterol can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

    – and Triglycerides – the triglyceride test is used to assess the risk of cardiovascular disease in people with a family history of heart disease, as well as in smokers, people who are overweight or obese, suffering from diabetes or hypertension, people with low physical activity or an unhealthy diet.

  • GGTP - the GGTP test is used in the diagnosis of diseases of the liver and bile ducts; GGTP is a sensitive indicator used in the diagnosis of alcoholic liver disease, cholestasis or liver cancer.

  • Total PSA - is one of the markers of prostate hyperplasia detected in the blood. Total PSA should be measured regularly as it is one of the screening methods used in men for the early detection of prostate cancer. The test is also used to monitor the condition of a patient with prostate hyperplasia.

  • TSH - a test used in the diagnosis of thyroid diseases, including Hashimoto's disease.

  • VITAMIN 25OH-D3 - determination of the concentration of vitamin D-25(OH)D in the blood. It regulates the calcium and phosphorus balance in the body. Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium in the intestine and reduces its excretion in the urine, improves the mineralization of bones and teeth and the body's immunity. The test is used in in the diagnosis of metabolic diseases, disorders of calcium and phosphate metabolism.

  • AST (aspartate aminotransferase) and ALT (alanine aminotransferase) - determination of the concentration of liver enzymes AST and ALT in the blood is used in the diagnosis of liver diseases, such as viral hepatitis or toxic liver injury.

  • GENERAL URINALYSIS - a basic prophylactic examination that should be performed regularly; it provides a lot of important information about the work of the urinary system, and indirectly also about the work of other organs and systems.

  • URIC ACID - a test used in the diagnosis of kidney function disorders; Uric acid testing is also important in diagnosing gout (arthritis).

  • CREATININE - blood creatinine test is performed to assess kidney function.

  • CALCIUM - a test used in the diagnosis of disorders of calcium and phosphate metabolism. Determination of calcium concentration in the body is most often performed when symptoms such as muscle cramps, tingling and numbness of the limbs, cardiac arrhythmias, coagulation disorders (e.g. nosebleeds), frequent bone fractures or anxiety are present. It plays an important role in metabolic processes and is necessary for the proper functioning of muscles, nervous and circulatory system, as well as in the blood clotting process; it is the main building block of bones.

  • MAGNESIUM - this element plays an important role in metabolic processes; it is necessary for the proper functioning of the nervous system and muscles and is involved in the contraction of the heart muscle. It is also a catalyst for many enzymes. The main indications for testing the magnesium concentration are: cardiac arrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure, muscle pain and cramps.
