Blood test package with home sample collection.

Who should perform the Pre-Pregnancy Test Package?

We recommend this package to all women who are planning to become pregnant and want to approach family planning responsibly.

This package can also help those women who are struggling to conceive. The tests have been selected to identify disorders that may prevent conception or the maintenance of pregnancy.

When to take pre-pregnancy tests?

It's especially worth considering the package if:

  • you are planning to become pregnant and want to check your health status;
  • you are planning to become pregnant and suspect deficiencies such as iron or folic acid;
  • you are having difficulty conceiving;
  • you are planning to become pregnant and suffer from chronic conditions such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, anemia, or diabetes;
  • you are planning to become pregnant and want to properly prepare for it;
  • you are over 30 years old.

Why is it worth taking the Pre-Pregnancy Test Package?

"Does my current diet give me enough strength to become pregnant and ensure the future health of my child?" The tests in this package will provide such information! Many pregnancy complications and congenital disabilities can be avoided by maintaining proper nutrition and leading a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, the tests help evaluate how well the body handles daily stress and whether nervous tension is causing issues, such as hormonal problems, that may interfere with conception and pregnancy maintenance.

The tests in this package allow the detection of abnormalities that significantly impact the health of the future mother and the proper development of the baby. They also provide a general assessment of a woman's body, making it easier to adopt habits that promote a healthy pregnancy and successful conception. With this package, you can detect conditions such as anemia, diabetes, thyroid, and liver diseases, which can affect fertility or pregnancy maintenance, as well as fetal development. Treating these conditions before pregnancy strengthens pregnancy safety and reduces the risk of complications.
An important component of the package is also the tests aimed at detecting infectious diseases during pregnancy. These diseases are easily treated with medication, but if not diagnosed in time, they can negatively affect fetal development or require treatments that may be invasive for the baby.

How to prepare for pre-pregnancy tests?

  • Perform the tests on an empty stomach.
  • Avoid intense physical activity and stress before the tests. Rest for 30 minutes before the test.
  • Stay hydrated. Drink a glass of water before the test.
  • Plan the blood draw in the morning, preferably between 8 and 10 a.m. Perform the tests 2-3 hours after waking up.
  • Abstain from sexual activity for at least 24 hours before the tests.
  • Consult with your doctor to determine whether your medications and dietary supplements may affect the test results.
  • Avoid alcohol before the tests (and if you're already trying to conceive, remember that you shouldn't drink alcohol, even in small amounts).
  • Do not perform the tests during menstruation.

Full list of tests in the package:

  • Complete blood count Basic blood test that assesses the overall health of the body and detects anemia. Undiagnosed anemia can worsen, and once conception occurs, it may cause developmental defects, miscarriage, or early fetal death.
  • ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate) Inflammatory marker in the body.
  • Total cholesterol Measures the level of total cholesterol and lipoproteins in the blood.
  • ALT A liver enzyme involved in protein metabolism for the body's energy needs.
  • Creatinine A nitrogenous organic compound, an indicator of kidney function.
  • Glucose Blood sugar level. Untreated diabetes can lead to pregnancy complications.
  • Iron A key element whose deficiency contributes to anemia. It is one of the elements necessary to maintain pregnancy and ensure proper fetal development.
  • Folic acid Also known as vitamin B9 or B11. Its presence prevents anemia, supports the health of the nervous system, minimizes the risk of certain fetal defects, and affects the newborn's birth weight.
  • TSH Regulates thyroid hormone production and helps monitor thyroid underactivity or overactivity. Thyroid problems may make it harder to conceive.
  • FT4 Free thyroxine (FT4) – the active form of thyroxine (T4), a hormone produced by the thyroid gland.
  • Anti-TPO Antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO), involved in the synthesis of T3 and T4 hormones. Elevated levels are associated with autoimmune thyroid diseases.
  • Total calcium The primary component of bones.
  • Magnesium Participates in 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. It plays a role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and during pregnancy, it contributes to fetal skeletal development.
  • Prolactin A hormone that stimulates breast growth during pregnancy and lactation. High levels can interfere with conception.
  • HCV The virus responsible for hepatitis C (HCV), which poses a risk to the mother (leading to liver cancer) and the baby, who may contract the virus during birth.
  • HBS Antigen A qualitative test for the hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg) in the blood serum, useful for diagnosing acute and chronic HBV infection – hepatitis B.
  • Syphilis (Treponema pallidum), IgG/IgM antibodies A sexually transmitted disease that can be passed to the baby during childbirth. Syphilis increases the risk of miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death.
  • Rubella (Rubella virus) IgG Rubella is a common illness that usually runs a mild course, but during pregnancy, it can negatively affect fetal development. The risk is highest in the first trimester.
  • Toxoplasmosis IgM/IgG Toxoplasmosis antibodies, a parasitic disease usually contracted by eating contaminated fruits or vegetables or raw meat containing protozoan cysts. Infection during pregnancy can cause fetal developmental defects or intrauterine death.
  • CMV (Cytomegalovirus) IgM/IgG Cytomegalovirus is a common virus, but infection during pregnancy may pose risks to fetal health.
  • HIV Ag/Ab (Combo) A test for the presence of HIV.

Factors that may affect the test results

  • A sudden lifestyle change can affect the reliability of the results. Maintain your usual dietary and physical activity habits.
  • Failure to follow the correct preparation instructions for the package as described above.

Interpreting the results and their impact on pregnancy planning

The following health conditions may make it difficult to conceive:

  • Hypothyroidism, indicated by high TSH and low FT4 levels.
  • Hashimoto's disease, suggested by elevated anti-TPO antibodies.
  • Hyperthyroidism, suspected if TSH is low and FT4 is high.
  • Anemia, identified through abnormal blood count results.
  • Iron, folic acid, or magnesium deficiency.
  • Elevated prolactin levels.

These diseases may disrupt pregnancy (increasing the risk of miscarriage, fetal death, or stillbirth) or cause fetal developmental defects, especially if untreated:

  • Anemia;
  • Diabetes;
  • Magnesium, iron, folic acid, calcium deficiency;
  • HIV;
  • Cytomegalovirus;
  • Toxoplasmosis;
  • Rubella.

These diseases pose a threat to the woman's life:

  • Hepatitis C.
